Kadi and Douglas got married in Jamaica, at the same place they met in 2005 – The University of the West Indies. When the couple first met, they dated “undercover,” telling everyone they were just friends. Although Kadi ended up leaving Jamaica, the two kept in touch, and they rekindled their relationship in 2010. This time it was no secret.
Five years later, Douglas proposed to Kadi after a dinner at R2L restaurant. His plan was to ask Kadi to take a photo with a special camera lens attachment. As she went to retrieve it from a pouch, she found a box. And in that box was, no not a ring – another box! Inside that second box, she found her ring. “I was excited but also in shock so I sat there while he came next to me and started to tell me all the reasons he wanted me to be his wife.”
With a wedding date set for October, Kadi came to us looking for the perfect lace gown. “My favorite part of dress shopping was not me trying on the beautiful gowns, although that was a lot of fun. The fact that my mom was there with me and the look on her face for each gown was priceless and that made my whole experience even better.”
Kadi said yes to a lace fit and flare gown with a keyhole back by Allure Bridals.
With the dress and venue checked off the list, the couple tackled the rest of their wedding planning on weekdays only. Realizing all their time was being consumed by planning, Kadi enforced a “Wedding Free Weekend” rule to keep their weekends stress free. We like the sound of that!
Their wedding at the University Chapel turned out perfectly. Their favorite part? The first dance. “We had so much fun, it was unplanned and it was as if no one else was there but us.”
Congratulations Kadi & Douglas!
