Our Le Bella Donna bride of the week is Emily, who got married just a few weeks ago in a jaw-dropping Martina Liana lace gown.
Emily and her husband James went to the same school for undergrad, but only met later when they ended up living together, thanks to the help of a mutual friend. It was one of those friendships that becomes very close very quickly, and by the end of the summer the two knew they were more than just friends. James popped the question three years later down at the gorgeous Philadelphia Waterworks, right after Emily had earned her white coat in Physician Assistant school. Instead of the celebratory brunch she was expecting, she recievced a very important little question instead. There was a photographer to capture the romantic moment as well!
Originally, Emily and James had wanted to take care of the planning of the event themselves. However, mom had suggested getting a wedding planner to help with the process. To quote Emily,
James and I were very hesitant thinking we could do it ourselves and boy were we wrong. We ended up hiring a planner and it was the best decision we made surrounding the wedding planning. Our planner was a lifesaver and as always – mother is always right!
When it came to finding her dress, Emily had some ideas to go on, but also kept an open mind. She knew she wanted lace, straps, something that wasn’t a ball gown with a pretty back. Because she was a little more open, we had her try on a whole different range of styles (yes, even a ball gown!) in order to really help to narrow down what she did and did not like in a dress. Having tried on a lot of different dresses, both with us and a second store meant Emily was sure she had found a dress she loved. Plus, as she says, just the process of trying them on is enjoyable!
Even if it wasn’t the dress for me it was so fun to try all of them on and feel beautiful and pampered for a day! Trust your gut. When I found my dress I knew it was the one. I was bullheaded and went to another bridal shop “just to make sure.” Sure enough I was back that same day getting the dress I knew was the one!
Though I was seeing James at 2:30PM, the morning felt like it took forever to tick by till I could see him. When it was finally time to walk out to where he was positioned I could tell just from seeing his back that the was a nervous mess. I was very relaxed our wedding day as I think I had gotten all the stress and anxiety out while planning. Tapping him on the shoulder and seeing his face light up when he turned around was amazing!
