Our featured bride for today, Jill, tied the knot with husband Nolan in a simple but stunning Martina Liana crepe sheath gown in May.

Jill and Nolan met on New Year’s day. Despite claiming she’s never had much faith in romantic cliches and didn’t believe in love at first sight, Jill says that nonetheless “it certainly was!” Nolan asked her if he could take her out to dinner a few days late “like a true gentleman” and the rest is history!

Nolan popped the question after a romantic dinner at one of the couple’s favorite restaurants downtown during a beautiful snowy night. After a fantastic meal, they went to one of the new observation decks overlooking Center City, where Nolan got down on one knee! Jill’s friends had been hiding in the background videotaping the whole proposal and came out and surprised her, which she says “was amazing!”

When it came time to picking out her wedding gown, Jill came to us with an open mind and tried on a lot of different styles. This was her favorite part of dress shopping with us, as she says it made her feel like a princess to try on all kinds of styles.  As she said “I really enjoyed trying on both styles I though I would absolutely love, as well as styles I wasn’t immediately drawn to just for the fun of doing so.”

As she notes, she loved some styles she had no idea she’d like. Our little secret in the wedding gown world is that a large percentage of brides actually end up in a different style of gown than they expect when they first come in, so keeping an open mind and trying things just to see can always make your experience more fun and help you find the perfect gown!

In the end though, Jill, who had already done plenty of Pinterest work before her appointment fell in love with crepe sheath dresses, and ended up in a stunning Martina Liana gown. The thin strapped gown with a plain bottom and detailed top was exactly the look she fell in love with, and crepe always has the added benefit of being extremely comfortable!

Jill’s favorite part of her special day was getting to share the memories of getting ready together with her mom, tied with walking down to aisle to meet her soon-to-be husband and seeing the tears of joy and happiness at the altar. To other brides, she advises to avoid getting caught in the stress of planning. “Remember the big picture is that you are marrying the love of your life and that’s all that matters!”

Congratulations Jill and Nolan! We wish you many years of love and happiness together!
